Our 5 Key Components

Camping Experiences

The beauty of creating such an intentional camp experience is that we are not bound by the gender binary status and that all teens can participate in all kinds of activities, sports and outdoor events.

Our goal is to create  a camp experience for all teens to enjoy.

With this in mind, we offer three different types of camp experiences, each containing Color Splash Out™ 5 Key Components – utilizing empowering workshops, games where leaders and young people participate, and a yearly theme.

02

A full summer camp experience

The Color Splash Out camp model offers a comprehensive camping experience, featuring a diverse range of outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, archery, team sports, and youth games, in collaboration with the camp facilities.

We understand that for some transgender or non-binary teenagers, swimming can be a source of anxiety. At Color Splash Out, we celebrate and welcome all teens, providing them with the freedom to swim in their preferred bathing suits, swimming trunks, or shorts. Additionally, we offer a designated area for those who prefer not to swim, where they can enjoy games and bask in the sun.

Our gathering also includes an exciting team game experience, culminating in our signature event, "Color Splash capture the flag - with powder," on the final day of the camp.

01

An intentional Safe and Brave Space

Color Splash Out creates an intentional safe and brave space that welcomes all to be their authentic self.

A space created where all identities and pronouns are respected.

In addition, we establish a sensory room during camp or overnight activities, which is staffed by a qualified individual to aid students who may feel overstimulated and require a space to find calm, focus, or comfort.

Houses – Sleeping Arrangements & Bathrooms

Teens are housed in style cabins with 8-1O teens of the same age group, and two adult House leaders (Camp Counselors). There are gender neutral bathrooms, showers, and changing areas with maximum privacy.

Our House leaders create a comfortable, safe and brave space.

On the first day teens spend time with their housemates getting to know each other. During this time they complete their PGP (preferred gender pronoun) name tags, and name their houses.

03

Empowering Workshops

Interactive hands-on empowering workshops: The Color Splash Out program operates under the belief that young individuals can be empowered and provided with the necessary resources to achieve success while having fun.

Our team of workshop presenters consists of accomplished artists, dedicated activists, and respected community leaders. The scheduling and delivery of our workshops are contingent upon the specific camp experience in which our team is participating.

We offer three distinct types of workshops, including those who speak to social justice, racial equity, those that connect young people to the arts in both visual and performing mediums.

We foster an understanding of Science Eco-Justice and our planet's resources, and those that establish a network of support for young individuals.

04

A Variety Extravaganza Show!

At a Color Splash Out event we celebrate all of our teens and have created a platform for them to explore the art of performing in a safe and brave space.

On our last night together the teens are invited to dress up for a celebration!

We invite them to perform in our variety extravaganza show which means they can do a one act play, a magic show, a poetry reading, or a performance skit. Our young friends can sing, dance, and perform along with recorded music or playing their own instrument.

All music and material must be pre-approve by our camp directors.

All performances must be  PG-13, up-lifting, empowering, and fun for all.

05

Innovative Thinking

Color Splash Out™ prides itself in the innovative belief of pioneer programs and advocacy that supports our community needs.

For such reason we have established The Fellowship of the Unicorns (a volunteer internship program) for teens who have participate in at least one year of CSO summer camp programing as a participant.

This initiative offers a Leadership Program aimed at supporting young individuals through a mentorship initiative.

This program is designed to guide and empower young individuals with mentorship. It covers a wide range of skills including assisting board meetings, drafting agendas, co-creating game designs, hand on assistance behind the scenes for PRIDE and summer camp, document creation, and becoming proficiency in software such as the Google and Microsoft suites.  Moreover, the program highlights the significance of communication skills and promotes the development of a communication strategy utilizing social media, DISCORD, and other suitable platforms.
